Structure House, located in Durham, North Carolina, is a premier residential weight loss center for adults age 18 and older of all genders. Our comprehensive programs for weight loss are fully customizable, and adults who receive our services can benefit from evidence-based interventions such as life coaching, nutritional counseling, and fitness coaching.
At Structure House, we offer a weight loss medication track that is designed to help people who are exploring the use of weight loss medication as part of their journey. This track is an add-on option for participants who are enrolled in our JumpStart program or our Graduate program. We also offer weight loss medication support for participants who are enrolled in our programs and are already taking weight loss medication.
Weight Loss Medication at Structure House
At Structure House, we are committed to helping participants achieve their wellness goals. Research shows that weight loss medication can support individuals in making the fitness and nutritional changes that are at the cornerstone of our programming. Weight loss medication can be an excellent tool to help adults lose weight by reducing appetite, regulating emotional eating or binge eating patterns, and improving cardiometabolic outcomes.
We offer a compounded version of semaglutide, which is available as an add-on to our JumpStart and Graduate programs. Semaglutide works optimally when combined with quality nutrition, physical fitness, and behavioral therapies.
Our center offers two options for participants to receive weight loss medication support services. The first option, our weight loss medication track, is designed for individuals who are not currently taking weight loss medication and wish to receive a prescription and begin taking a new weight loss medication while at Structure House. The second option, our weight loss medication support add-on, is designed for people who come to Structure House and are already taking weight loss medication that is prescribed and monitored by their home physician.
Weight Loss Medication Track
Participants who are looking to add medication to their weight loss journey can take part in our weight loss medication track. Individuals who choose this track start by having a 50-minute consultation with our on-site physician. After that consultation, the physician prescribes a compounded version of semaglutide at a specific dosage based on what is most appropriate for the individual. Participants begin by taking this dosage during the first week of their visit.
Participants then meet weekly with our on-site nurse to receive their injections. They meet again with the physician in weeks two, three, and four for medical consults to adjust the dosage, if necessary, and address any possible side effects.
Individuals in this track are also invited to participate in the following:
- A weekly strength-training session that is offered specifically for individuals who are taking weight loss medication
- A biweekly nutrition workshop that is designed to help participants adjust their nutrition plans to optimize the outcome of the medication
- A biweekly support group facilitated by a life coach who understands the emotional concerns that may result from taking weight loss medications
Participants leave with an additional eight weeks of semaglutide to continue taking at home. During these eight weeks, our team of experts will email you recipes and offer health education on a variety of topics. Participants have the option of returning to campus after that eight-week period to receive a one-week booster and to meet with our physician to get a 12-week refill of the medication.
The medication track must be completed during a consecutive four-week period, and participants are required to complete a medical questionnaire prior to arrival to determine eligibility.
Participants also have the opportunity to return to Structure House at a later date for our Medication Booster Week, which includes fitness, nutrition, and behavioral classes. You can also receive another three-month supply of medication during the Booster Week.
The weight loss medication track is an add-on to Structure House’s live-in residential programs. This unique and effective approach to weight management incorporates scientifically supported principles of nutrition, exercise, and behavioral health to help participants achieve healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Our staff works closely with each participant to develop a plan that suits their goals and personal health needs. We seek to celebrate the strengths and gifts of each individual who turns to us for help.
Participation in the weight loss medication track is offered for an additional fee.
Weight Loss Medication Support
Weight loss medication support is offered at no cost to any participant who is already taking part in one of our live-in residential programs. This designated level of support is ideal for participants who are taking medication and receiving medical support from their doctor. These individuals are welcome to attend the biweekly nutrition and support groups as well as the weekly strength-training sessions that are offered as part of the weight loss medication track.
Unlike the weight loss medication track, this option does not require a consecutive four-week stay. It is something that is offered to anyone on campus who has been taking weight loss medication and can benefit from receiving ongoing support. Please note that this specific offering does not include the prescribing of medication or medical consultations.
Why Having Support While Taking Weight Loss Medication Is Important
Making the decision to take weight loss medication can be a turning point in your weight loss journey. For some people, it can be an exciting addition to their process, while others may feel somewhat defeated at the thought of adding something new. Some individuals may even feel a sense of shame if they believe that they were unable to lose weight without taking medication. But it is important to understand that it is not a lack of willpower that leads someone to take weight loss medication. Genetics and biology are to blame.
Experiencing these negative thoughts or feelings of discomfort is one reason why it is so important to have emotional support from others while taking weight loss medication. Being surrounded by people who understand what you’re going through can help you realize that you’re not alone. You will find that there is no shame in taking weight loss medication, and you can give support to and receive encouragement from others as you navigate this part of your journey. Even though everyone’s journey is unique, there is comfort in discovering that there are others who are having similar experiences.
Additionally, taking weight loss medication in a setting where you have the support of qualified clinicians at all times is incredibly beneficial. Our team members are here not only to offer support, but also to provide advice and education on weight loss medications so that you can feel comfortable knowing that you are making a truly informed decision.
For individuals who may have made the decision to stop taking weight loss medication, having support is equally beneficial. You are going through another change in your process, and that can lead to having questions, feeling unsure, and wondering if you’re making the right decision. Peers and compassionate professionals can help you as you take this step by working with you to process the emotions you’re experiencing and encouraging you as you make behavioral changes to support this part of your journey.
Benefits of Weight Loss Medication
Weight loss medications offer several potential benefits for adults who are struggling with obesity or health conditions related to their weight. At Structure House, a trained healthcare professional administers all weight loss medications and monitors doses for side effects and individual response. Features and benefits of compounded semaglutide and other weight loss medications may include:
- Supplementing lifestyle changes: Compounded semaglutide can be used in conjunction with healthy lifestyle changes, such as a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and counseling, to enhance the overall weight loss process.
- Appetite suppression: Compounded semaglutide works by reducing appetite and can help individuals consume fewer calories over the course of the day.
- Initial motivation: Weight loss medications can provide people with quick initial results. This can boost motivation and confidence and encourage participants to continue their weight loss journey.

- Customized approach: At Structure House, our healthcare professionals tailor compounded semaglutide regimens to meet each participant’s specific needs. We consider each person’s medical history, drug allergies, and overall weight loss goals to ensure a personalized approach to programming.
- Short-term assistance: Weight loss medications like compounded semaglutide can be particularly beneficial for jump-starting weight loss efforts, especially for individuals who may have struggled to lose weight through diet and exercise alone.
- Improved quality of life: Weight loss can lead to increased energy levels, improved mobility, enhanced self-esteem, and an overall improved quality of life.
At Structure House, we recognize that weight loss medication will not magically solve all your problems. These medications are meant to be used as a tool to support other weight loss efforts, such as quality nutrition, physical activity, and behavior modification. Our team is more than happy to discuss realistic expectations, benefits, and potential risks with you.

The Structure House Difference
At Structure House, our aim is to help you attain sustainable and long-lasting weight loss outcomes. In our residential programming, participants live independently in private apartments on our peaceful, 12-acre campus. Participants typically stay for up to four weeks, but some people choose to stay longer.
Unlike some traditional weight loss boot camps that may only focus on immediate results, we support our participants in maintaining weight loss. We encourage each person to make their own decisions about nutrition and exercise without shame, guilt, or following extreme measures like fad diets or unsustainable workout routines.
At Structure House, we follow a modern healthcare approach that goes beyond physical fitness and nutritional guidance. Our knowledgeable team helps participants recognize the link between their mental health and weight loss obstacles. Structure House incorporates the following into each person’s care:
- Life coaching: When it comes to managing weight, it’s important for participants to recognize and address any negative thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors that may hinder efforts to establish and sustain healthy habits. We meet participants where they are and help them explore their relationships with food and develop healthy ways of coping with their emotions that don’t involve binge eating or overeating.
- Nutritional guidance: At our facility, we adhere to scientifically proven methods of healthy eating that do not involve restrictive dieting. This approach is vital so that participants can achieve their weight loss goals in a sustainable way. Participants meet with a registered dietitian throughout programming who develops a customized nutrition plan and can provide them with the tools to make healthy eating decisions at home.
- Fitness coaching: We provide participants with a variety of safe, effective, and fun fitness classes that are customized to each individual’s current fitness level. We believe that mindful movement that nourishes the body and is enjoyable is the best way for people to consistently incorporate healthy activity into their daily routines.
