Can I Use Essential Oils for Weight Loss?
You may have heard that people reportedly use essential oils for all kinds of reasons, including relaxation, to boost their immunity, and even to ease headaches. But can you use essential oils for weight loss? While there’s no direct link between essential oils and weight, you may be able to use them indirectly to aid you in your weight loss journey.
Researchers haven’t conducted many studies on essential oils, and they’ve conducted even fewer specifically on essential oils for weight loss. However, that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. Essential oils may help you lose weight. Just don’t expect them to be the magic pill — or oil — that zaps your pounds away.
What Are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are parts of plants that are distilled into oils. People commonly use essential oils in aromatherapy by inhaling them or mixing them with a carrier oil and applying them to the skin. You can even ingest some essential oils. Many people use essential oils to help calm their nerves, reduce stress, and even lessen feelings of nausea. But before using an essential oil, you might want to check with your doctor to make sure it is safe and won’t react with any medications you’re taking.
How Can I Use Essential Oils to Lose Weight?
You could potentially use essential oils in an indirect way to lose weight. Some people report that sandalwood oil helps calm their nerves. You might get a better night’s sleep if you feel more relaxed before bed, making it more likely that you’ll get up for your morning run because you are well-rested. Some people also report that lavender oil helps them feel less stressed, so you might not feel the need to emotionally overeat if you use lavender oil to reduce your stress levels.
