Look forward to a healthier lifestyle and a promising future with help from Structure House. Our customized nutrition services help our participants embrace their strengths, heal their bodies, and create lasting, positive change.
At Structure House, we utilize an evidence-based approach to healthy eating which is a critical component to each participant’s long-term healthy weight loss success. As part of our approach, our team does not eliminate any food groups from a person’s diet. Instead, we focus on encouraging participants to focus on eating foods that are filling, nutritious, and easy to prepare.
Participants in our JumpStart program receive a nutrition intake session with a registered dietitian at the start of their stay with us. The dietitian talks through any specific dietary concerns participants have and will then recommend daily nutrition plans. Follow-up nutrition counseling sessions are available and can be scheduled using New Participant Service credits or for an extra fee throughout the rest of a participant’s time in programming.
The team at Structure House teaches participants how to build well-balanced, nutritious, filling, and tasty meals. Our dietitians can also teach participants how to make balanced food choices in restaurants, at grocery stores, and at home.
Participants select from numerous classes and workshops focused on nutrition that can help them learn how to develop and maintain healthy eating habits. Examples of the topics that may be covered during these various classes and workshops may include:
- Normalizing eating patterns
- Healthy weight management
- Meal preparation and planning
- Mindful eating
- Vitamin and supplement use
- Healthy eating in restaurants
- Use of electronic resources to plan and monitor eating
- Nutrition myths and fad diets
At Structure House, meals are developed through a strong collaboration between the nutrition and culinary teams. All three daily meals are served in our on-site dining facility, where healthy behaviors such as portion management using the My Plate Model, mindful eating, nutritional awareness, and appetite awareness monitoring are practiced.
As part of the JumpStart program, our team also provides menu planning for participants to use at home as well as weekly cooking demonstrations. Through the implementation of these services, we can help participants learn how to shop for and prepare balanced meals at home and make well-informed decisions when dining out.
Healthy Nutrition
Balanced nutrition is extremely important for a person’s overall physical, mental, and emotional health. Practicing good nutrition habits allows a person to get the proper balance of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients needed to function at their best. Furthermore, healthy eating is an important part of a comprehensive strategy to prevent the development of serious medical health conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancers. When paired with an effective exercise regimen, eating well greatly increases the likelihood that an individual will achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
Having knowledge about nutrition and being able to make smart food choices can go a long way in helping a person achieve optimal health and achieve and maintain their desired weight.
